Has Anyone Successfully Recovered from Premature Ejaculation?
As someone who struggled with premature ejaculation (PE) for more than ten years, I feel qualified to share my experience.
I went from being someone who would ejaculate within seconds to eventually gaining control, lasting 20 minutes, 1 hour, and sometimes even being able to delay ejaculation completely.
Here are some things I learned along the way.

1. Premature Ejaculation Has Nothing to Do With Masturbation
Many men blame masturbation for premature ejaculation, but in reality, there is no direct connection between the two.
In fact, masturbation can be used as a way to better understand your own sexual response — as long as it is done in a healthy and controlled way.
The key is learning:
how your body responds to stimulation;
when you reach the “point of no return”;
how to control your arousal level.
Training yourself to recognize these signals can help you develop better control during real sexual experiences.
2. Do Not Feel Ashamed Because of Premature Ejaculation
Many men with PE lose confidence and avoid relationships because they are afraid of embarrassing themselves.
In my opinion, this is the wrong approach.
Having premature ejaculation is actually a reason to build more sexual experience and confidence, not to isolate yourself.
The more relaxed you become with your partner, the less pressure you feel, and the easier it becomes to improve.
Sexual performance is not only about physical ability — your mental state plays a huge role.
3. Topical Numbing Products Can Help as a Temporary Solution
Some men experience ejaculation almost immediately after penetration, which can be extremely frustrating.
In these situations, topical desensitizing products may provide temporary help.
These products usually work by slightly reducing sensitivity in the penis, allowing men to have better control.
However, they also have limitations:
Using too much may reduce sexual pleasure;
Excessive numbness may make it harder to maintain an erection;
They should not become the only long-term solution.
If you use a topical product, it is important to follow the instructions carefully.
Many men test the appropriate amount beforehand to find the balance between reducing sensitivity and maintaining normal pleasure.
Also, remember to remove any residual product before intercourse, as it may affect your partner’s sensation as well.
These products are better viewed as a short-term tool to reduce anxiety and help men gain confidence.
4. Circumcision and Sensitivity
Whether circumcision is necessary depends on each individual situation.
For men who still have the foreskin covering the glans even during a full erection, circumcision may sometimes be recommended for medical reasons.
Some men report that circumcision helped them last longer.
One possible explanation is that after circumcision, the glans is exposed more often and experiences more friction from clothing, which may gradually reduce sensitivity.
However, circumcision is not a guaranteed treatment for premature ejaculation.
For men who are not interested in surgery, some may try non-surgical methods aimed at reducing sensitivity and becoming more comfortable with stimulation.
The important point is understanding your own body and choosing the method that fits your situation.
5. Dapoxetine: A Medication Specifically Approved for Premature Ejaculation
One of the most important treatments for premature ejaculation is dapoxetine.
Dapoxetine is a prescription medication belonging to the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
Unlike erectile dysfunction medications, dapoxetine does not increase erection strength.
Its main function is to regulate the brain’s ejaculation control pathways and help men delay ejaculation.
It is specifically approved in many countries for adult men diagnosed with premature ejaculation.
How Does Dapoxetine Work?
Dapoxetine affects serotonin activity in the nervous system.
By increasing serotonin signaling, it helps regulate the ejaculation reflex and gives men more control over ejaculation timing.
It is not a “male enhancement” drug and does not directly improve blood flow or erection hardness.
How to Take Dapoxetine
Timing
Dapoxetine is usually taken:
1–3 hours before sexual activity
It should be swallowed with a full glass of water.
Dosage
The usual starting dose is:
30 mg
If the effect is insufficient and the medication is well tolerated, a doctor may consider increasing the dose to:
60 mg
Frequency
Dapoxetine is used on demand, not every day.
Maximum: once within 24 hours
Do not take multiple doses in a short period
Always follow medical advice.
My Personal Experience With Dapoxetine
Compared with topical numbing products, dapoxetine allows you to maintain more natural sexual sensation because it does not reduce physical sensitivity.
For some men, it can significantly improve control and reduce performance anxiety.
However, it is still a medication, and some people may experience side effects such as:
dizziness;
nausea;
tiredness;
feeling light-headed.
Some men also find that it works so well that they have difficulty reaching ejaculation, which can also affect sexual enjoyment.
Because of this, many users eventually adjust their frequency of use rather than relying on it every time.
The Most Important Lesson: Do Not Let Anxiety Control Your Sex Life
Many men with premature ejaculation focus only on one thing:
“How long can I last?”
But excessive pressure often makes the problem worse.
The first step toward improvement is reducing anxiety, understanding your body, and building confidence.
Premature ejaculation is common, and many men successfully improve their control through a combination of:
better sexual awareness;
relaxation;
communication with a partner;
behavioral techniques;
appropriate medical treatment when needed.
Remember:
Sex is not a performance competition.
The goal is not simply to last longer — the goal is for both partners to enjoy the experience.
