In sexual relationships, most men hope to become a “long-lasting performer.” While not everyone expects to last for an hour, many men hope to maintain intercourse for at least 30 minutes. However, some men struggle to last even 3 minutes.

When this problem occurs, some patients may consider using dapoxetine hydrochloride tablets under medical guidance.

Dapoxetine is a medication specifically approved in many countries for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). It works by improving ejaculation control and helping some men prolong intercourse time.

“After taking it, I felt that my brain was less sensitive to stimulation. It also gave me psychological confidence — I felt that I could do it.”

“After taking it, I could clearly feel improved control over ejaculation. I used the basic 30 mg dose.”

Since Priligy (dapoxetine) was launched, it has gained a large number of users worldwide, providing a foundation for evaluating patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Therefore, Dr. Mark conducted a survey this week among some men who had used dapoxetine, focusing on their real-world experiences and treatment feedback.

The purpose of this survey was to help more people understand the actual effects of dapoxetine in the treatment of premature ejaculation.

If you or someone you know experiences premature ejaculation, dapoxetine may be one of the treatment options worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

Now, let’s look at the collected feedback and clinical data.

Survey Results and Data Analysis

Figure 1: Improvement in IELT (Intravaginal Ejaculatory Latency Time)

IELT refers to intravaginal ejaculatory latency time, which is an important measurement used in evaluating premature ejaculation.

Generally:

  • Consistently lasting less than 1 minute may indicate lifelong (primary) premature ejaculation.

  • Consistently lasting less than 3 minutes may indicate acquired (secondary) premature ejaculation.

From the survey data:

After taking dapoxetine, all participants reported an IELT of more than 3 minutes, and some participants reported durations exceeding 30 minutes.

This suggests that dapoxetine may significantly improve ejaculation control and reduce symptoms of premature ejaculation in some men.

Figure 2: Increase in Intercourse Duration

The survey results showed that:

After taking dapoxetine, many users experienced an increase in penetration time of more than two times compared with their previous baseline.

This indicates that dapoxetine may help some men extend sexual activity duration.

How Does Dapoxetine Work?

When it comes to ejaculation control, one of the most important neurotransmitters involved is serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT).

Higher serotonin activity may delay ejaculation, while reduced serotonin activity may lower the ejaculation threshold.

Dapoxetine belongs to a class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and is designed for on-demand use.

It works by rapidly increasing serotonin levels in the synaptic space through interaction with serotonin transporters. Increased serotonin activity then affects specific serotonin receptors, including 5-HT2C receptors, helping regulate the ejaculation reflex and improve ejaculation control.

Clinical Study Results of Dapoxetine

A 12-week prospective, open-label study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of dapoxetine in patients with premature ejaculation.

The results showed:

At the end of treatment, the effectiveness rates of different dapoxetine dosage groups were:

  • 77.3%

  • 92.8%

  • 100%

Another randomized controlled clinical study included 495 patients with both premature ejaculation (PE) and erectile dysfunction (ED).

After 12 weeks of treatment, the study found that:

Compared with the control group, patients taking dapoxetine showed greater improvements in:

  • Ejaculatory control

  • Sexual partner satisfaction

  • Overall sexual satisfaction

Side Effects and Safety Profile

Clinical trials of dapoxetine reported possible adverse reactions, including:

  • Headache

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhea

  • Insomnia

  • Fatigue

However, these side effects were generally considered manageable for most patients.

Taking dapoxetine 1–3 hours before sexual activity with a large glass of water may help reduce some discomfort associated with side effects.

Is Dapoxetine Addictive?

Unlike some other neurological medications, dapoxetine does not have addictive properties.

A prospective, 12-week, open-label, post-marketing multinational study (PAUSE study) showed that dapoxetine had an overall favorable safety profile.

Compared with other oral medications, dapoxetine demonstrated relatively low associations with:

  • Mood-related adverse events

  • Neurocognitive effects

  • Genitourinary and sexual function-related adverse events

Large International Clinical Study Results

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted across 22 countries showed that dapoxetine significantly improved:

  • Ejaculatory control

  • Sexual satisfaction

  • Personal distress related to ejaculation

  • Relationship difficulties associated with premature ejaculation

The medication was generally well tolerated among patients.

Dapoxetine has the characteristics of:

  • Rapid onset of action

  • Short half-life

  • Strong clinical effectiveness

It may help extend ejaculation latency time, improve ejaculation control, increase sexual satisfaction, and reduce the severity of premature ejaculation symptoms.

Evidence From Clinical Guidelines and Research

Regarding the effectiveness of dapoxetine for premature ejaculation, the Chinese Guidelines and Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Male Diseases reported that:

A Phase III clinical trial involving 6,018 patients in Europe and other countries confirmed the clinical effectiveness of on-demand dapoxetine treatment for premature ejaculation.

After 12 weeks of treatment:

  • Average IELT increased by approximately 2.5–3 times

  • Sexual satisfaction increased by 22.9%–27.8%

  • The effective rate after 4 weeks was 70.4%

  • The effectiveness rate at the final follow-up was 74.6%

A separate clinical study titled “Clinical Value of Dapoxetine Hydrochloride in the Treatment of Acquired Premature Ejaculation” reported an overall clinical effectiveness rate of 89.41%.

Final Thoughts

Dapoxetine can help some men with premature ejaculation improve ejaculation control and extend intercourse time. However, individual responses vary, and it is important to use medication according to medical advice.

If you still have questions about dapoxetine, including:

  • How to take it

  • Appropriate dosage

  • Frequency of use

  • Possible side effects

You can consult a healthcare professional for personalized guidance.
