What to Do If 5 mg Tadalafil Taken Daily Does Not Work?
As concerns about men’s health continue to increase, especially among middle-aged and older men, the clinical use of tadalafil has become more and more widespread.
Compared with other medications in the same class, such as sildenafil and vardenafil, tadalafil has several advantages, including a lower molecular dosage, a milder effect, a longer duration of action, and less cardiovascular stimulation. Because of these characteristics, tadalafil has become one of the most commonly used PDE5 inhibitors for middle-aged and older men in clinical practice.

Due to these unique pharmacokinetic properties, tadalafil is currently the only PDE5 inhibitor approved for regular daily use in specific clinical situations. Tadalafil is available in four different strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg. Among them, the 5 mg dose is the formulation approved for daily use.
Clinical studies have shown that taking a low dose of tadalafil regularly every day can not only help improve symptoms but may also provide long-term benefits related to vascular health.
However, as men age, and as the influence of underlying health conditions and unhealthy lifestyle habits increases, the mechanisms behind erectile problems can become more complex. This is why some men may experience insufficient results even after taking 5 mg of tadalafil every day.
Many men describe a similar situation: after taking one 5 mg tablet daily, they do feel that their natural response has improved, but when it comes to actual sexual activity, the results are still not satisfactory.
So, why does this happen?
In fact, taking a low daily dose of 5 mg tadalafil is mainly designed to help older men improve vascular endothelial function and support long-term regulation of blood vessel health. In other words, it may benefit blood vessels and improve spontaneous natural responses, but whether a person can achieve a satisfactory result depends largely on the severity of the underlying condition.
If the condition is mild, taking one 5 mg tablet daily may be enough to achieve satisfactory results. However, if the condition is more severe, even daily 5 mg tadalafil may not create a sufficient drug concentration in the body. In other words, the strength of the effect may not be enough, and adjustments to the treatment approach or dosage may be needed.
So, what can be done?
A common approach in some cases is to continue the daily low-dose regimen and combine it with on-demand use of a certain dose of tadalafil or another medication from the same class. The purpose is to temporarily increase the medication concentration in the body, enhance the effect, and improve the chance of achieving a satisfactory result.
However, there is one important point to understand: even when daily use is combined with on-demand use, the total frequency of medication intake should not be increased.
In other words, if a higher on-demand dose is taken on a particular day, there is usually no need to take the regular 5 mg daily dose again on the same day. The medication should not be taken above the recommended dose or more frequently than advised, as excessive use may increase the burden on the liver and kidneys and raise the risk of adverse effects.
Therefore, if 5 mg tadalafil taken daily does not provide the expected results, the key is to identify the reason and adjust the treatment strategy safely rather than increasing the dose or frequency on your own.
